Frequently Asked Questions

  • The short answer is no. Both chiropractic care and physiotherapy typically don't require a doctor's referral. However, some insurance companies may still require a referral, so we recommend checking with your insurance provider to confirm your policy details.

  • We’re located at 103 Schneider Road in Kanata, Ontario. You’ll find us in the same building as Big Rig Brewery, inside the doors of Crossfit Closer. You have to drive to the end of the building and enter the Crossfit Closer entrance.

We also offer mobile in-home visits in the West Carleton region, including the towns of Dunrobin, Constance Bay, Fitzroy Harbour, Kinburn, Woodlawn, and Carp. Mobile sessions are by appointment only.

  • Prior to your first appointment, it can be helpful to consider some of the following:

    • Fill out your online intake forms- these will be sent to you via our online system to your email account. We ask that you complete them at least 48 hours in advance of your appointment so that we can review the information you provide.

    • Your medical history- including past injuries, surgeries, chronic conditions, medications or treatments

    • Identify your symptoms- specific symptoms/issues, when they started, what triggers them, what helps relieve them

    • Goals- thinking about what specifically a good outcome would look like or feel like for you! This will help us tailor your treatments specifically for your needs and desired outcome

    • Prepare questions- we want to make sure you feel informed and empowered in your body and plan. Write down any questions or concerns you have so that we can address them at your appointment.

    • Consider your lifestyle- It’s important and helpful for us to get a sense of your daily habits, including work routines, exercise, diet, and sleep patterns. There’s no judgment here but this information is critical to helping you thrive!

Day of the appointment we recommend you support yourself by wearing comfortable clothing you can move in, staying hydrated and leaving lots of time to arrive at your appointment early and on time.

  • We totally understand that sometimes plans change. If you can no longer make your appointment, we ask that you provide us with 24 hours notice. You can cancel and reschedule your appointment online via our booking system HERE or by calling our office.

Please note that the first time you cancel your appointment with less than 24 hours prior to your scheduled visit, 50% of your appointment fee will be charged. Subsequent late cancellations will be billed at 100% of the fee of your appointment. Thank you for understanding.

  • Our initial consultations are typically around an hour long to ensure ample time to get to know you and your needs. Following our initial consultation, your provider will discuss what treatments will best suit your needs- these sessions typically run between 15-60 minutes in length.

  • We don’t direct bill insurance providers; however, nowadays it’s super quick and easy to get reimbursed via providers online portals! The receipt you’ll receive has everything you need to submit a claim to your insurance provider, and they typically direct deposit the reimbursement within 48 hours after you submit.

  • Great question! The timeline for seeing changes depends on several factors, including the nature of your condition, how long you've been dealing with it, your overall health, and how your body responds to treatment. Some patients experience relief after just a few sessions, while others might take longer, especially if the issue is chronic or complex.

In general, you might notice some changes within the first 4-6 sessions, but significant improvement can take a few weeks to a few months, depending on your goals and the treatment plan. This is certainly something that is highly individual but we will address it with you once we’ve been able to meet and do an assessment.

It's important to remember that healing is a process, and consistency with your treatment plan- along with any exercises or lifestyle adjustments we recommend- will help you get the best results. We’ll be monitoring your progress closely and adjusting the plan as needed, so we can work together to achieve your goals.

  • Though you might think that physiotherapy and chiropractic care differ, in our clinic, we operate pretty similar.

Given that our clinic follows a similar philosophy in both disciplines, we focus on treating the body holistically, with an emphasis on movement, alignment, and overall health. If you’re unsure which to book, let us know your specific concerns and we’ll help you find the practitioner(s) for you!

The one exception to this is if you are experiencing vestibular dysfunction (dizziness)- we recommend that you see our physiotherapist Vicki!

  • We specialize in treating orthopedic and sports injuries, enhancing athletic performance, and preventing future issues. This includes conditions like muscle strains, joint sprains, tendonitis, overuse injuries, and movement imbalances. We also help with recovery, mobility, strength, and optimizing your movement patterns to ensure you perform at your best and stay injury-free.

  • Absolutely! You don’t need to be injured or in pain to benefit from chiropractic care, physiotherapy or our coaching services. Think of it as a way to optimize your body’s performance and keep everything working smoothly, even when you feel good. It's all about keeping you strong, flexible, and ready for whatever life throws your way. We love working with you to optimize your performance and prevent issues in the first place! Reach out and we can chat to decide what will serve you best based on your goals!

  • This is something that’s highly specific on your current condition and individual goals. Some clients will benefit from more regular, weekly treatments initially while others will be successful checking in once or twice a month. Frequency of treatments is something that we will discuss directly with you at your first appointment so that you feel clear and aligned on your plan moving forward.

  • We know that no two bodies are the same, so we don't take a one-size-fits-all approach to treatment. When we tailor your care plan, we consider several key factors to make sure it’s specific to you and your needs including your medical history, current condition, specific symptoms, current lifestyle and goals.

Throughout your care, we’ll keep checking in with you and adjusting the plan based on how you’re feeling and progressing. This way, your treatment stays personalized and continues to work for you as you heal and improve.

  • At FLOW, one of our values is ensuring that you are able to stay active while you receive your care. Exercise is an important part of recovery and maintaining overall health, so we always encourage staying active. In some cases, we may recommend modifying certain exercises or focusing on specific movements to support your healing process.

During your treatment, we'll assess your workout routine and help you understand which activities are beneficial, and if anything needs to be adjusted or in rare cases, temporarily avoid. The goal is to keep you active while preventing setbacks!
